we live in the age of high-speed information and our children's education needs to keep up we all need the Common Core State Standards make sure that students are prepared to college and the real world now by the way I'm Eddie you're right it is the real world but I'm talking about the future I want to invent a Time cool now if you use your time machine to go to the Future what would you see that clean my room awesome but you'll need High School classes to build a time machine or robots well first you have to accelerate to the speed of light that sounds kind of hard the new standards prepare you for taking lawn hard things One Step at a Time Elsa think of them like a staircase because the standards are like steps to take you go to your college or career while teachers like me make sure you really get a topic before you take a step up and that's their case is the same no matter where you live so even if you how much is know what step you're on I'm moving on the balls that's only if you move it helps keep everything fair for everyone I think so too your teachers will also now have more flexibility to help you really understand critical ideas  well the standard make sure you're really exercising brain learning things by fractions or reading and writing about books by famous authors  and while you read that a student enough to school are you reading Charlotte's Web but you'll both be learning to read carefully looking for Clues like a detective I can always buy my mom's keys really fast I bet you'll be good at meeting these standards too and we can measure your growth better along the way to find out I'm talking about tax if I don't like that you're not the only one hitting but the new tests are just replacing the ones you already take with questions was whether you really understand things like fractions. Take this multiple choice question it's the kind you used to see you could guess and still have a one-in-five chance of getting it right your cat has a one-in-five chance of getting it right now check out this new kind of questions 3/2 equals 1 and 1/2 that's here wait this is going to have to do more of that brain exercise yes but if we work together and we're patient students like you will develop the skills to be the inventor Someday My mom said to be patient
