Ensuring that ALL 8800 of our students are prepared for success in high school and beyond is our ultimate goal in the East Whittier City School District. Our dedicated support staff, teachers, administrators and Board of Trustees work tirelessly day in and day out to achieve our vision of “Opening the Door to Every Child’s Future.” In order to make this commitment a reality we are focusing all we do on teaching our students the 21st Century Skills of Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, Communication and Community.
Given the wealth of knowledge we have across East Whittier, we have invested time and resources to further refine our Tuesday Collaboration time. To capitalize on this expertise, each Tuesday, when students at all thirteen of our schools are dismissed early, our dedicated teachers and administrators engage in professional conversations, share best practices and analyze evidence of student learning with a focus on answering four critical questions to support all students:
- What do we want students to learn?
- How will we know they have learned it?
- What will we do for those students who did not learn the concept?
- What will we do to extend the learning of those students who did learn the content?
We are so proud of the community of learners we have in East Whittier. There is so much to celebrate in our amazing District. Please check out our various social media links and hashtags to follow our team’s phenomenal work to support ALL students as we engage our students, staff, parents and community to continue to ensure that EWCSD stands out as a shining example for other districts.
Welcome to another great year in East Whittier!
