Message from the Principal
Welcome to Ocean View Elementary School home of the Dolphins. Our staff provides an exemplary instructional program and our focus is student success. We strive for personal greatness and shared responsibility.
The Ocean View community is active, caring and committed to the success of our school. We are proud of the efforts made by our children, staff, and parents and know that it takes everyone working collaboratively to achieve excellence. Ocean View has been recognized four times as a California Distinguished School. This honor is something the school has worked very hard to maintain continuously since 1997. The Academic Performance Index of Ocean View is 870. We are a high performing school and proud of it!
I want to strongly encourage you to take an active role in helping your child meet grade level standards. It is critical that your child reads each night and memorizes the math facts appropriate to their grade level. These things require practice just like baseball, piano, and dance. Please allow academic practice time each night.
A second important factor to your child’s success is attendance. Please make sure your child gets to school on time and attends every day unless they are ill. Try to schedule activities or appointments after the school day so they do not interfere with instruction time.
There are many opportunities for you to become involved at school. We appreciate all our PTA does for our school such as providing field trips, assemblies, the Meet the Masters Art program and funding our agenda planners and folder program. Your participation in the PTA fundraisers is a critical part in making all those things possible.
I served as a Teacher and Learning Specialist at Ocean View prior to working at Hillview as an Assistant Principal and at the District as Director of Educational Support Services. I am honored to return to Ocean View as Principal and look forward to working with such an exemplary staff, students, and community. Let us make this another stellar year!
