Dear EWCSD Students, Staff, and Families

As we prepare for the 2023-2024 school year, we hope that you and your family have had a safe and enjoyable summer break. We are excited for our staff and students to return to our campuses this fall, where we will continue to develop 21st century learners through the five essential skills of communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and community.

Over the summer, we were able to offer Summer Academy, our Extended School Year program,  as well as the Boys and Girls Club Summer Program.  In total we were able to provide additional learning opportunities to approximately 2,245. We are also proud of the many facility improvements that have taken place over the past few months. These improvements include playground asphalt replacement, middle school field and track renovations, and new HVAC systems in all school MPRs. We cannot wait for our students, staff, and community to see and enjoy these new upgrades.

One of the key focus areas for the 23-24 school year will be expanding our Broad Course of Study initiative by offering students a wide range of enrichment opportunities. This will include after school programs in the arts, music, and dance. Our intention is to provide a platform for students to engage beyond the classroom and discover new talents and interests that can develop into lifelong skills.

We are also thrilled about our enhanced STEM programs, which will provide students an opportunity to develop problem solving and critical thinking skills through innovative, hands-on learning experiences. Our new makerspaces will provide an ideal space for students to develop new skills and collaborate with their peers on projects in the areas of coding, robotics, engineering, and more. In an increasingly technology-driven world, we are committed to ensuring our students are equipped with the resources and tools they need to succeed in the future.

With so many incredible things happening around our District, we could not be more excited to begin a new year of education, collaboration and engagement with the EWCSD community. On behalf of myself and the Board of Education, we wish everyone the very best in the upcoming year as we work toward our mission of “Opening the Door to Every Child’s Future.”

Sincerely,

sig
